Q. I loved a dalit woman. She is attractive and active. Even she loves me. However my father is against our marriage. He told me that if I marry untouchable my health will get spoiled, life span will reduce, lose intelligence etc. I shouldn’t say but my dad is of loose character. He had affairs with many. My mother and father always fights over this? I have only one doubt. why should caste be an obstacle for marriage when it is not for sex? Finally I want to ask one thing. Is there any truth in my father’s words?
Ans: There is no truth in your dad’s words. I congratulate you for your forward looking question why should caste be an obstacle for marriage when it is not for sex? When both like each other one can marry any caste and any religion girl. You can marry the girl even if your father don’t agree. All humans are equal. There are no untouchables. You can get married as per civil marriage act, in a temple ect and live happily.
